Thanks for coming to my blog and reading my post. I would like to share with you my future field; office managing. This is a range from school offices, small businesses, corporate offices, and medical offices. I personally plan to manage a medical office in pediatric specialty.
Office managers are responsible for providing a wide range of duties from supervising personnel, to managing technological systems, to greeting patients/clients, billing and payments, and basic front office procedures. They are the person responsible for making sure that the office is ran smoothly and efficiently so that the medical doctors and nurses can tend to their patients without being disrupted with office management problems. You can usually make a choice with what kind of office suits you and what you are looking for within your employment position. For example, a smaller dental office may have the office manager take care of the clerical work and manage the entire office while a larger pediatrician's office may have receptionists that take care of the clerical work so that the office manager will oversee the personnel and step in when help is needed.
According to Study.com, the minimum requirements for this kind of position would require a diploma or GED with some employers requiring a bachelor's degree relating to that field. There are many colleges, small and large, that offer certificates and degree programs for office management. Classes that are offered for these degrees include general education, management, accounting, office software, records management, and some possible human resource classes. The main thing that should be considered is previous experience. This could range from inventory management, basic office equipment knowledge, office software, and/or customer service. It would be great to have strong written and oral communication skills, leadership skills, and to be detail oriented. These qualities are needed to be able to make sure that the office is ran as efficiently as possible and that the staff knows what is expected of them as well.
I have chosen this field to be able to take advantage of normal office hour times and days since I have children that I would like to be at home with in the evenings, weekends, and holidays. I have also chosen to work in an office where children will be present because I have a love for children and I know that having them around me while I am working will keep me in a good mood. I have had numerous volunteer positions in the past that required basic administrative duties that I have come to love and realize that I am good at. These three things are the reason that I decided this field is right for me.
